Nice, I never thought of using Sysprep to move a full-fledged production installation from one machine to another.

A couple questions:
I'm under the impression that
sysprep /generalize
also takes the currently active profile and copies it to the default user profile (for all newly-created users to inherit). Is that the case? If so it might be a good idea to create a temporary Administrator user, run sysprep from there, and then delete the account after migrating.
Also, does sysprep /generalize /shutdown allow you to get the generalization magic without having to go back through the OOBE process and rename your machine, create new user accounts, etc?

And a tip:
Unless you need any of the other advanced features of the Windows Automated Installation Kit, you can skip the download step and just run:

C:\windows\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe
